Probably the most caring & selfless lady I’ve had the pleasure of calling my friend for >40 years. Although I was initially introduced to Kate through my friendship with Jerry, we formed a close understanding of our own over the years and having had 2 brothers, I looked upon Kate as a surrogate sister who was always there for either practical or moral support and advice whenever needed.
I was proud to be the best man at Kate & Jerry’s wedding in 1983 and delighted that Kate was matron of honour in 1986 for my first wedding. I was equally honoured when Kate & Jerry asked me to be Alexander’s Godfather in 1992.
When my mother died in 2021, Jerry couldn’t attend the funeral due to shift issues and as was her nature, Kate immediately offered to represent the Abel household by herself, driving the 80 + miles in the morning and providing additional assistance with last minute tasks.
In the 40+ years that I knew Kate, she always prioritised the health and well-being of others ahead of herself.
Kate was a genuinely lovely person in an increasingly disingenuous world and she will be sorely missed and forever remembered by all who had the pleasure of knowing her.
